"A Plea From A
Parent"
My
name is Lisa Quinn. My daughter Meadow is 4 years old and suffers from
Neurofibromatosis (NF), a disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves
throughout the body. These tumors can cause blindness, deafness, and
disfigurement, loss of limbs, learning disabilities, scoliosis, and
congenital defects of bones, cardiovascular defects and cancer. NF1 is
the more common disorder affecting 1/3500 people throughout the world.
There is NO cure for NF.
For
Meadow and other children with NF every day is a challenge. Every pain
causes concern. We wonder did another tumor grow? Are the tumors that
are there causing pressure on another nerve? We hope and pray for the
best and we hope and pray for a cure. Meadow and our family need your
help.
Meadow
was diagnosed with NF when she was 15 months old. She has a feeding
tube, develpomental delays, a deformed kidney, tumors throughout her GI
tract, tumors on 3 different parts of her brain and most recently she
has a tumor that has started to grow in her left leg. Meadow receives
speech, physical and occupational therapy.
This
Labor Day I am participating in a marathon to raise funds for the
Children's Tumor Foundation. The Children's Tumor Foundation provides
patient services, public education, and medical research aimed at
finding effective treatments and a cure for NF. Will you please help us
by making a donation and sponsoring me in the Children's Tumor
Foundation Marathon? Please help us find a cure for this terrible
disorder. Your kindness and support means so much.
Meadow
and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God bless you.
With
love,
Lisa Quinn
