 The Eclipse

November 12, 2003

While watching the total eclipse of the moon, I began to think about all that transpires to make this miracle of nature happen. As the shadow of the Earth blocked out the rays of the sun from reaching the moon, I thought about all of the day-to-day things in our lives that block the way to the Son of God. Unlike the moon eclipse that happens rarely,we are faced each day with events that try to diminish or block the Son from our lives. We need to remain focused on our own beliefs and trust in the Lord that He is always there. Even when the moon was completely blocked out, there was still a ring of light that reminds us that the sun was still there. Just like the sun in our sky, the Son of God never has left us. When we are having a dark time in our lives, keeping the Son of God in our thoughts and prayers will brighten that darkness. As the eclipse diminished, it seemed that the moon was brighter than anytime before. Just like the moon, the Son of God will brighten our lives even after our darkest moments. When the eclipses of life get to you, always remember to keep the Son close to your heart and mind and the light of salvation for you will never be far behind.
